Steven Jarvis was born in Anderson, Indiana, on April 22, 1968. He moved to Davidson County at age 14. For over 30 years, he has been the Owner and President of Jarvis Construction. His political career began as a county commissioner for Davidson County, where he served for six years. He was then elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives for the 80th district, serving from 2019 to 2021. In 2020, he was elected to the North Carolina Senate, initially representing the 29th district and, after redistricting, the 30th district since January 1, 2023. He is a graduate of the UNC School of Government's Advanced Leadership Corps program.
