Steven Thomas is a Democratic candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates in Legislative District 32. A lifelong resident of the district, he has over 30 years of experience in public service and public safety. Thomas served as a lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, where he began his career as a patrol officer in 1996. He holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a master's in Legal & Ethical Studies from the University of Baltimore. In 2014, Thomas was tasked with starting the department's Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) and Peer Support Teams, coordinating both. Under his leadership, the Anne Arundel County CIT unit was recognized as the International CIT Unit of the Year in 2020. Thomas is also an approved instructor for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and was named a top 100 Youth & Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor in 2018.
