Sydney Kamlager-Dove was born in Chicago, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California and a Master's degree in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Before being elected to Congress in 2022, she served in the California State Senate (2021-2022), the California State Assembly (2018-2021), and as a trustee for the Los Angeles Community College District starting in 2015. She took office as the U.S. Representative for the 37th district on January 3, 2023.
