Tana Mccoy is a lifelong resident of Compton, where she attended local schools and graduated from Compton High School. Her career in public service spans 45 years with the City of Compton, where she began working at City Hall at age 16. She has held various administrative roles, including in the Mayor and City Council's office and the Compton Water Department. In February 2016, she was appointed to the Compton City Council to represent the 3rd District and was subsequently elected to a full term from July 2017 to June 2021. She has also served as a board member for the Metropolitan Water District and was appointed by Supervisor Holly Mitchell to the Board of Trustees for the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District. She is a mother of three and a grandmother of eleven.
