Theodore "Ted" J. Elder is a Republican serving as the Worcester County Commissioner for District 4 in Maryland. First elected to the Board of County Commissioners in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022, Elder was chosen to serve as President of the Board in 2024. Before his time in public office, he worked as a small business owner and school bus contractor, and he served as President of the Worcester County Bus Contractors Association from 1994 to 2014. As a Commissioner, Elder has prioritized expanding high-speed broadband access in rural areas, advocating for the local agricultural industry, and maintaining low property taxes.
