Theron McCabe is a native of Craven County, having grown up in the Harlowe community and graduated from Havelock High School in 1967. After high school, he worked as a police officer and detective with the New York City Police Department, assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Division. After retiring in 1995, he returned to Craven County and became active in his community, joining the Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department. He was previously elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2006.
