Troy D. Berry is the Sheriff of Charles County, Maryland, a position he has held since being elected in November 2014, making him the first African American to do so in the agency's history. A member of the Democratic party, he was re-elected in 2018 and 2022 and is currently serving his third term. With over 30 years at the Charles County Sheriff's Office, his career has included roles as a patrol officer, detective, and commander. Berry is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus. As Sheriff, he has focused on building community partnerships and addressing the opioid crisis.
