Verona Mauga is the Democratic Representative for Utah House District 31, serving West Valley City and Taylorsville. She is the first Samoan elected to the Utah State Legislature and the first Samoan woman to serve in any continental state legislature. Born in Kahuku, Hawaii, and raised in West Valley City, Mauga champions economic growth, innovation, and support for small businesses. She serves on committees focused on economic development, workforce services, and the judiciary. An entrepreneur, she co-owns My Choice Utah and Sagato Bakery & Café, and co-founded Le Malu to amplify Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander voices. Mauga advanced from the Democratic convention for the 2026 general election.
