Victor L. Wright was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court in February 2006 by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He grew up in Compton, California, and attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts for high school. He earned bachelor's degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Economics from the University of Southern California and a J.D. from Yale Law School. Prior to his judicial appointment, he worked as an associate at the law firm Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher from 1991 to 1993 and then in the Office of the Los Angeles County Counsel from 1993 to 2006, eventually becoming a principal deputy county counsel. As a judge, he has presided over felony criminal matters and has served in leadership positions, including Assistant Supervising Judge. He is also a faculty member in the Communication Studies department at Loyola Marymount University.
