A resident of Prince George's County for over two decades, she currently serves as an at-large member of the Prince George's County Council. Blegay is an attorney whose career has focused on civil rights, women's rights, and workers' rights. Her path to public service began as a caseworker in the office of Congressman Steny Hoyer, the representative she is running to succeed. Her professional experience also includes serving as a staff attorney for the DC Nurses Association and as an adjunct professor at the American University Washington College of Law. On the county council, her legislative work has focused on healthcare and civil rights.
