William West

William 'Billy' West, a native of Cumberland County, is the current District Attorney for Prosecutorial District 14. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from North Carolina State University, where he was a four-year member of the golf team, Valedictorian of his graduating class, an Academic All-American, and the ACC's Outstanding Male Scholarship Athlete. He then obtained his law degree from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. Prior to being elected District Attorney in 2010, West served as an Assistant District Attorney for ten years, handling cases in Juvenile, District, and Superior Courts. He has served as President of both the National District Attorneys Association and the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys. As the leader of one of the largest DA offices in the state, he oversees the prosecution of approximately 100,000 cases annually.
