Subsequently, he worked in the banking industry from 1979 until his retirement in 2015, a career that led him to move throughout several southeastern states before returning to his hometown. He has served on the Stanly County Board of Commissioners for over seven years and was elected Vice Chairman for the 2026 calendar year. His current term is set to expire in December 2026. He also serves as a member of the Economic Development Commission and the Senior Services Advisory Board.
