Hi, I'm Imara Crooms. Publicly Financed & Community First

Candidate for Prince George's County Council - d9Democratic
Prince George's County, Maryland
Imara Crooms is a community organizer and publicly financed candidate for Prince George’s County Council, District 9. He is the first candidate in the county to run using the Fair Election Fund, rejecting corporate PAC, developer, and lobbyist money in favor of a people-powered campaign rooted in honesty, accountability, and community leadership. For more than a decade, Imara worked in public service promoting democracy, anti-corruption, and civic engagement in the United States and abroad. That work taught him a simple truth: when government stops serving the public, communities pay the price. He has spent his life organizing alongside working families, educators, environmental advocates, labor leaders and equal rights activists to make sure that government works for the many, not the well-connected few. Imara lives in Upper Marlboro with his wife and daughter, where they steward a small farm and are active members of the Prince George’s County Farm Bureau. He is running to bring accessible, responsive leadership to District 9, with a focus on community-first development, strong public services and infrastructure, environmental protection, and restoring trust in county government.
Progressive Victory is excited to support Imara Crooms for Prince George County Council! 100% fueled by the Fair Election Fund, Imara is running to replace "business as usual" with principled leadership. From fighting reckless data centers expansion to championing public services, Imara is the progressive voice South County deserves.

The hospitality workers of Local 25, the people who cook the food, clean the rooms, and keep our hotels and restaurants running, deserve a Council member who fights for them at every table, not just during election season.
When county dollars subsidize hotel and retail development in South County, workers should benefit too. That means Labor Peace Agreements, prevailing wages, and the real right to organize without fear of retaliation.
Workers built this county. It's time the Council started acting like it.
Thank you, UNITE HERE Local 25. Let's get to work. ✊
