A. Gregory Rainville is a retired Vermont Superior Court judge and former attorney. Raised as one of twelve children on a dairy farm in Franklin, Vermont, he graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont (1977), and earned a law degree from the University of Toledo School of Law (1980). He practiced law in St. Albans, Vermont — including as a litigation associate at Tyler, Bruce and Brooks and through his own firm, Rainville & Associates, P.C. — and served as an alternate member of the Vermont Environmental Board. Appointed a trial judge by Gov. James Douglas in 2006, he presided over cases in Franklin, Grand Isle, Chittenden, Addison, Orleans and Lamoille counties for nearly 18 years until retiring effective January 1, 2024. He also owned and operated a dairy/beef farm and a maple syrup operation.
