Akir Khan is the board chair of the nonprofit Out of the Garden Project, which focuses on child hunger. A son of immigrants, he was born at Moses Cone Hospital and attended Dudley and Northwest Guilford High Schools. He has a doctoral degree in educational leadership from High Point University and has worked at GTCC, UNCG, and High Point University. His career includes roles as chief of staff for J&A Solutions, a director of development and communications at the National Conference of Community and Justice, and an executive at Jet It. This is his first time running for political office.
