Andrés Carrera, 33, is a Democratic candidate for Colorado's 34th State Senate District in the 2026 primary. Driven by his family's immigrant journey from Mexico and the American dream it represents, he aims to ensure that promise remains accessible to all. A Colorado State University alumnus, Carrera’s political experience includes roles with Senator Michael Bennet, Governor Jared Polis, and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston. His platform emphasizes free and universal childcare, smaller K-12 class sizes, increased teacher salaries, affordable college tuition, and high school pathways to careers via apprenticeships or college credits. He also supports good-paying jobs, local businesses, affordable housing, and corporate accountability. Carrera has garnered over 130 endorsements, including from four former Denver mayors, and qualified for the June 30, 2026 primary ballot.
