Anne Watson

Anne Watson is a Vermont educator and elected official who has represented the Washington District in the Vermont State Senate since 2023. Born in Burlington and raised in Essex, she earned a B.S. in physics with a minor in mathematics from Penn State University and a master's degree in secondary education from the University of Vermont. She has taught science and math at Montpelier High School since 2004 and is a Knowles Teaching Initiative Senior Fellow and 2015 Rowland Fellow. She was appointed to the Montpelier City Council in 2012 and was elected Mayor of Montpelier in 2018, 2020, and 2022. In the Senate she has chaired the Natural Resources and Energy Committee and served on the Appropriations Committee. She lives in Montpelier with her husband and son.
