Aurin Chowdhury was elected in 2023 to represent Ward 12 on the Minneapolis City Council. She is a first-generation Bengali-American and a lifelong Minneapolis resident, having attended Minneapolis Public Schools and the University of Minnesota. Prior to her election, she had an extensive background in policy work and grassroots organizing, including managing constituent services for State Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic and former City Council Members Steve Fletcher and Jason Chavez. Her policy work has focused on issues like the city's Inclusionary Zoning ordinance, wage theft prevention, and the expansion of community safety programs.
