Brenda Lopez Romero is not currently running for office on Civoren.
Brenda Lopez Romero, an attorney born in Mexico, made history in 2016 as the first Latina elected to the Georgia General Assembly, representing District 99 from 2017 to 2021. During her tenure, she opposed Georgia House Bill 481, a six-week abortion ban, and championed HB 896, which aimed to grant in-state tuition to high school graduates regardless of immigration status. Driven by a desire for equitable representation, she is now a Democratic candidate for Georgia House of Representatives District 98 in the 2026 primary election. She previously ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020 after deciding not to seek re-election to the State House.
