C. Lawrence Crump is the current President of the Newark Municipal Council and a Council Member At-Large, first sworn into office in August 2021. He is a graduate of Morehouse College with a B.A. in Banking and Finance and Rutgers University School of Law – Newark with a J.D. His career includes roles as General Counsel and Director of Development for the Newark Parking Authority, First Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Newark, and Chief of Staff to his mother, former Council President Mildred C. Crump. He was nominated by Governor Phil Murphy and confirmed to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission's Board of Commissioners in July 2023.
