Chao Wu

Chao Wu is a Democratic legislator serving in the Maryland House of Delegates. He represents District 9A, which encompasses portions of Howard and Montgomery Counties. Wu was elected to this position and officially assumed office in January 2023. In the legislature, he contributes to fiscal and policy decisions as a member of the Ways and Means Committee. Before joining the Maryland General Assembly, Wu gained public service experience as a member of the Howard County Board of Education, where he served a four-year term from 2018 until 2022. Professionally, Wu has applied his analytical skills as a data scientist. His extensive academic background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, a master’s degree from the National University of Singapore, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China.
