Charles "Charlie" Bethel is an Associate Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, having assumed office in October 2018 after being appointed by Governor Nathan Deal. He is currently running for re-election to the Supreme Court in the May 19, 2026, general election. Prior to his judicial tenure, Bethel served on the Georgia Court of Appeals and as a Republican Senator in the Georgia General Assembly, representing the 54th district from 2011 to 2016. Born in Athens and raised in Dalton, he earned his business and law degrees from the University of Georgia. He was elected to a full term on the Supreme Court in 2020.
