Christopher "Chris" Measmer is the incumbent senator for North Carolina's 34th district, having been appointed to the seat in April 2025. A native of Cabarrus County, he graduated from Central Cabarrus High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from George Washington University. During college, he studied abroad in Greece and Italy. After graduating, he returned to Cabarrus County to operate his family's business, The Wayside Family Restaurant in Concord, and is a second-generation business owner. Prior to his appointment to the State Senate, Measmer served for seven years on the Cabarrus County Commission, including a period as Chairman.
