Connie Johnson, a fourth-generation Oklahoman, is campaigning for Oklahoma Governor in 2026 under the Democratic Party banner. With 33 years of public service, she previously served two terms in the Oklahoma State Senate, representing District 48 from 2005 to 2014. Johnson is recognized as the original architect of Oklahoma's medical cannabis law. An advocate and consultant by profession, she holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Langston University, and Larry Love University. She aims to move the community forward and rebuild burnt bridges. Johnson previously sought the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 2018 and was the first Black woman to win a statewide party nomination in Oklahoma for the U.S. Senate in 2014.
