Cynthia Haynes has lived in Iredell County for over 60 years, graduating from North Iredell High School. She earned a degree from the Davis Hospital School of Nursing in 1982 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte in 1987. Her career in healthcare spanned over 40 years, including roles as an exceptional children's school nurse for Iredell-Statesville Schools and as a nurse investigator for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, from which she retired in 2021. She previously served on the school board from 2014 to 2017 and was appointed in May 2025 to fill a vacancy for a term ending in 2026. She is married with three daughters.
