Councilmember Darrell Haire, known as D.J. Haire, is a native of Fayetteville and has served 12 terms on the City Council, including as Mayor Pro Tem from 2012 to 2013. He is the owner of a second-generation family real estate business. Haire is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Bethel Bible College, and Destiny Bible College. He has been involved in numerous community and governmental boards, including the National League of Cities Advisory Council. He is a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award and President Joe Biden's 2024 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
