David J. Trone

David John Trone is an American politician and businessman born in Cheverly, Maryland, on September 21, 1955. He served as the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 6th congressional district, holding the office from 2019 to 2025. As a member of the Democratic Party, Trone brought extensive business experience to his political career. He co-founded Total Wine & More, a large, privately-owned retailer of alcoholic beverages, and acted as the company's president until 2016. His academic background includes a bachelor's degree earned from Furman University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, he was known for his focus on key issues such as combating the opioid epidemic and improving access to mental health services.
