Demetrios Koutsoupias

Demetrios Koutsoupias was appointed to the Gastonia City Council for Ward 1 on June 18, 2024, to fill a vacant seat. He is the owner of Georgio's Restaurant in Cramerton, NC. His previous political experience includes serving as Town Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tempore for the Town of Cramerton for eight years. He has been involved in regional planning by serving on the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Koutsoupias earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His community involvement includes coaching youth basketball and helping to establish the Stuart W. Cramer High School Athletic Booster Club as a non-profit organization.
