Derrick Thompson

Derrick Thompson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He joined the U.S. Army in 1983 and retired in 2004 after 21 years of service. He then relocated to Fayetteville and worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 15 years. Thompson was first elected to the Fayetteville City Council in 2022. He has served as the president of his Homeowner's Association and is a board member for Gateway Landing, a nonprofit organization. He and his wife, Francine, have two children.
