Diana W. Purnell is a Democratic politician serving as a Worcester County Commissioner for District 2 in Maryland. First elected to the office in 2014, she made history as the first African American woman to serve on the Worcester County Board of Commissioners. She later served as the board's President from 2017 to 2019. Throughout her tenure, Purnell has been an active member of numerous local organizations, including the Board of Health and the Social Services Board. Beyond her public service, she is an inventor, entrepreneur, and the co-owner of Purnell Enterprises, LLC. In 2016, she was named Woman of the Year by the Worcester County Commission for Women.
