Frederic 'Fred' Whitehurst is an attorney practicing criminal law in Bethel, North Carolina, and an incumbent Town Commissioner. He is a former Supervisory Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Laboratory, where he became a whistleblower, leading to significant reforms in the FBI's forensic science procedures. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Forensic Justice Project. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2002.
