Fred Joiner is a poet and curator based in Chapel Hill, NC. He served as the seventh Poet Laureate of Carrboro, North Carolina, from 2019 to 2022. In 2019, he was also named an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. His work has been featured in various publications, including Callaloo, Gargoyle, and Fledgling Rag. As a curator of literary and visual arts, Joiner has collaborated with numerous institutions such as the American Poetry Museum, the Phillips Collection, and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. He is a co-founder of The Center for Poetic Thought in Washington, DC, a Board Member for The American Poetry Museum, and a member of the Artist Advisory Board for the Orange County Arts Commission.
