Harry Bhandari is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing Legislative District 8 in Baltimore County. He assumed office on January 9, 2019, with a current term ending in January 2027. Bhandari holds the distinction of being the first Nepali American elected to a state legislature in the United States. Born in Nepal, he immigrated to the U.S. in 2005. His professional background includes serving as a teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools and as an adjunct faculty member at Baltimore City Community College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Within the House of Delegates, he has served on the Health and Government Operations Committee and chairs the Maryland Legislative Asian-American and Pacific-Islander Caucus.
