Ira Jourdain

Ira Jourdain is an enrolled tribal citizen of the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe from Red Lake, MN. He has a background in Human Services, working with families receiving public assistance. From 2017 to 2024, he represented District 6 on the Minneapolis Board of Education, where he championed student needs, including writing a policy to guarantee daily recess. Jourdain has previously earned endorsements from labor groups for his work on the school board. He has lived in the Kingfield neighborhood with his family for over 10 years and is a father to two Minneapolis Public Schools students and one graduate.
