Irving David Allen is a community organizer with over 12 years of experience. He has worked for organizations such as Ready for School Ready for Life, Color Of Change PAC, Ignite NC, and the Beloved Community Center. Allen founded the Books and Black Youth Reading Program and helped form the city's first criminal justice advisory commission. He previously ran for a city council at-large seat in 2017. His experience includes serving as a founding member of the Gate City chapter of Black Lives Matter and as a member of the Human Rights Commission.
