He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Northern Iowa in 2017, where he was a Division I athlete in football and track. He received his law degree from the University of California-Irvine School of Law in 2021. Following the murder of George Floyd, he joined the Minneapolis City Attorney's Office to work on police reform initiatives. He also serves as a volunteer high school football coach at Washburn.
