Jefferson Thomas “JT” Scott is a candidate for Somerville City Council Ward Two in Somerville, Massachusetts — 2025 General Election. Running as Democratic Socialist.

JT Scott grew up in rural west Tennessee and graduated from Duke University in 1994 with bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. He began his career in the semiconductor industry, which brought him to the Boston area in 2000. After more than a decade in that field, he changed careers and started a CrossFit gym in Union Square, Somerville. Before his election to the City Council, Scott was a community activist involved with organizations such as Union United and Union Square Neighbors, where he advocated for affordable housing and responsible development. He has also been active in fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, fair wages, and racial and economic justice. He was first elected to represent Ward 2 and has served since 2018.
