John Michael "Mike" Edney was born on August 7, 1960. A long-term public servant, he has been a Henderson County Commissioner for multiple terms, including from 1988 to 1996 and from 2010 to the present. His current term is set to expire in December 2026. Edney graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1978 and earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1982. He has been in private law practice since August 1985. His family has deep roots in Henderson County, dating back to the late 1700s. He is married to Lisa Mazzeo Edney, and they have two children.
