Keith Stone has served as the Sheriff of Nash County since December 2014. His career in law enforcement began in 1984 as a Jailer with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office, where his father, Hubert Stone, was the sheriff. He became a certified Deputy in 1986 and joined the North Carolina Highway Patrol in 1987, from which he retired in 2012. Stone holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration, and an Associate of Science in Law Enforcement Technology. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Graduate Program.
