Katherine Kenlan

Katherine "Katie" Kenlan is a lifelong resident of Chatham County, having grown up in Hadley Township. She attended Pittsboro Elementary, Horton Middle School, and Northwood High School. Kenlan graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Latin American Studies and a minor in African American Diaspora Studies. She is fluent in Spanish. Her career has focused on early childhood and environmental education. She has worked as a nature-based preschool teacher and founded an outdoor environmental education program. She has also served as the interim director of Mi Escuelita, a Spanish language immersion preschool. Kenlan was sworn in as the District 4 Commissioner on December 5, 2022. She has filed to run for her second term in the 2026 election.
