Laura Pitone is a long-time resident of Somerville and a parent of two children who have attended Somerville Public Schools. She has degrees in engineering from MIT and business from Babson College. Her professional background includes roles as a manufacturing engineer at General Electric, a business and information technology consultant where she oversaw web marketing strategy for State Street Corporation, and Director of Talent and Organizational Development at an architecture firm. Before her election to the School Committee in 2014, she was an active volunteer in the schools, serving on the Healey School Improvement Council and as a co-chair of a parent-teacher organization.
