Laura Scott has lived in Easthampton for about 15 years and has two children in the public schools. She previously served on the School Committee for several terms about 10 years ago, during which the district was approved for the construction of the new Pre-K through grade 8 school. She was appointed to the committee again to fill a vacancy before being elected. In January 2024, she was selected by her peers to serve as the committee's chair. She also serves on the Finance Subcommittee.
