Lauren Shoemaker has served on the Mount Holly City Council and is the current Mayor Pro-Tem. She moved to North Carolina in 2003 after earning dual degrees in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from Penn State University. Her career began at the United States Department of Agriculture National Science Laboratory in Gastonia, where she has progressed from a Laboratory Technician to Biology Section Supervisor. A resident of Mount Holly since 2006, she is married with two children. Her community involvement includes serving on boards for the Mount Holly Community Development Foundation, Gaston County Jaycees, and the Mount Holly Community Garden. Before her election, she served on the Mount Holly Economic Development Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
