Lily Qi is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 15. She assumed office on January 9, 2019, becoming Maryland's first Chinese-born state legislator. Born in Shanghai, China, Qi immigrated to the United States in 1989. She holds a master's degree in communication studies from Manchester University and an MBA from American University. Before her election, Qi worked in economic development and later served as the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for economic and workforce matters in Montgomery County under County Executive Ike Leggett. In the legislature, Qi focuses on economic issues and serves as the co-chair of the House Study Group on Economic Stability.
