Melissa Easley is the incumbent for the District 1 seat on the CMS Board of Education, first elected in 2022. She is a former teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience, ten of which were in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Easley co-founded North Carolina Teachers United, a large pro-public education online group. She holds a master's degree in K-12 Instructional Technology and is a National Board Certified teacher. As a parent of two CMS students, she advocates for policies that support educators and improve student outcomes.
