He has served both as a district representative and in his current at-large post, to which he was elected in 2009. He is the son of the late civil rights leader Julian Bond. His educational background includes attendance at Frederick Douglass High School, Morehouse College, and Georgia State University, and he holds a certification for Senior Executives in State and Local Government from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Outside of his council duties, he has served as the Deputy Director and Chief Programs Officer for the Atlanta branch of the NAACP.
