Oliver Thomas is the City Councilmember for District E, representing New Orleans East and the Lower Ninth Ward. A native of the Lower Ninth Ward, he was first elected to the council in 1994 and served until 2007. In 2007, he resigned after pleading guilty to federal bribery charges and served 37 months in prison. He returned to the City Council after winning an election in 2021.
