Robert C. McBurney is an incumbent judge of the Georgia 5th Superior Court District Atlanta Circuit, initially appointed by Governor Nathan Deal in February 2012. He is seeking re-election in the general election scheduled for May 19, 2026, for a term that is set to conclude on December 31, 2026. McBurney earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard. Prior to his judicial appointment, he served as senior counsel for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia and as the Fulton County Assistant District Attorney. He recently stepped down from the Judicial Qualifications Commission’s Hearing Panel and presided over a grand jury investigation concerning the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
