Robert Mitchener is a retired former Wake County Deputy Sheriff with over 30 years of experience in law enforcement. He graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh and attended Allen University, where he studied Business Administration before joining the Wake County Sheriff Department. His training includes Basic and Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, Dignitary Protection, and Special Weapons and Tactics. He founded the non-profit organization 'Our Youth Matters' to provide intervention and prevention outreach for at-risk youth. In 2018, he was selected as a member of the transition team for Sheriff Gerald M. Baker.
