Robert "Robbie" Waldrop is a lifelong resident of Gastonia, North Carolina. He attended South Point High School and played Division I basketball at Winthrop University, competing in two NCAA March Madness tournaments, before transferring to Lees-McRae College. After his basketball career, he worked as a teacher and coach in Gaston County Schools. In 2004, Waldrop began his career in law enforcement with the Gaston County Police Department. He has served in multiple roles, including K-9 Handler, SWAT Team Leader, supervisor of the Special Investigations Unit, and Patrol Captain. He is currently the Captain of the 911 Operations Center. He was inducted into the Winthrop Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
